I am having a terrible time getting VP/ix (Version 1.1) to do anything for me. I have several questions on this package. 1) I purchased this package to use my HP ScanJet scanner with a DOS software interface. Then I found out that version 1.1 of VP/ix doesn't recognize direct device access. I talked with SCO and they said version 1.2 would probably have the functionality I needed. They went on to say that this version of VP/ix would only be supported under SCO UNIX. Now I see in a response to the floppy problem that you need SCO Xenix version 2.3 or better. What is the real scoop on version 1.2 of VP/ix. Has anyone tested the DDA portion of VP\ix 1.2??? 2) I have a couple of DOS applications which try to access a COM port. When the software tries to access this port I get an error: Unable to emulate two byte instruction COM1 in vpix.cnf is: COM1 /dev/tty1a which is the device file: crw-rw-rw- 1 bin bin 5, 0 May 24 07:32 /dev/tty1a What does this error mean. Is this something that VP/ix can't emulate or have I set something incorrectly??? 3) I am having a terrible time reading, copying, and formatting floppy disks through VP/ix. I get errors from bad sector to various format errors. Here are the vpix.cnf entries for my 1.44MB 3.5" and 1.2 5.25" drives: A /dev/rfd096 B /dev/rfd296ds9 which are the device files: crw-rw-rw- 4 bin bin 2, 52 Mar 14 12:31 /dev/rfd096 crw-rw-rw- 1 root root 2, 38 Feb 9 10:41 /dev/rfd296ds9 Can I do anything to fix this??? One final question is - will VP/ix version 1.2 solve any of these problems??? Thanks for answers to any and all! / o __/ , , , /_(_/_(_(_/_ / -' Jeffrey D.
