[comp.unix.xenix] Bug in SCO Xenix readdir library????

david@actsn.fay.ar.us (David Summers) (08/24/90)

I'm sure this has been hashed out before, but I didn't have the 386 or the
Xenix 386 OS at the time.....

Here's my problem. I've finally gotten a 386 system running Xenix 386 2.3.2
and re-compiled my (previously working 286) netnews code. Now, every time
AFTER it does the expire it seems to run a 'rnews -U' AND an 'rnews -S -p'
processes that continually say something like:

Aug 24 01:01	local	: Inbound news is garbled
Aug 24 01:01	local	rnews failed, status 256. Batch saved in /u/netnews/spool/.bad/

It is NOT saving anything in that directory (and I wouldn't expect it to because
there is nothing coming into the system (or spooled in the queue) at this time.
The main problem is that this QUICKLY fills up disk space.

Is there a bug in the readdir, opendir, closedir, etc., routines (my first
guess) or is it something else? I defined READDIR, MKDIRSUB, DIRENT in the
'defs.h' file when I re-compiled for the 386 (SDS 2.3.1b I think). I beleive
that is the only major thing I changed between 286 and 386 version. Oh, I'm
not linking with any special library other than '-lx'. Should I be?

Now, I *MAY* be able to figure it out before I get any response from anyone, but
I thought I'd ask questions first and shoot later, so to speak, as I won't be
able to get to work on it until tonight (Friday).

Thanks in advance!
