About a week and a half ago, I posted a message about starting a list of public domain, et al., software which has been ported to SCO XENIX, and wanted to get feedback from individuals on the idea. During this time, I've gotten numerous responses, all positive. So, starting immediately, I'm going to start accumulating this list of software. In addition to this, there was much interest in having the software 'centralized' for easy locatability. So, in addition to the list of software I've decided to attempt to 'collect' all the software, and make it available via anonymous uucp to any caller who wishs to pick up the cost of a phone call (yeah, it'd be nice to have it available via anonymous FTP, but I can't afford a SLIP connection! :-)) Further information can be obtained by UUCP'ing either (or both) of the two files indicated in my .sig. I'd appreciate all feedback that people can send in regards to software they either think or know has been successfully ported to run under XENIX. MD

Many of you will remember my interest in starting a list of ported software (as well as an archive site) which is available for XENIX. Well, some two months later, I've put together the first release of this list. Listed below is the sum total of software which *I* have found, and others have either pointed out, or uploaded to "anomaly". Certainly, this is not an all-inclusive list (as I would certainly appreciate more information on any software YOU have out there, that we can include in this list!) I would like to thank all of you who have participated in this project thusfar, and hope that by working together we can make this list enlarge for the benefit of all XENIX users. Together, we can show to SCO that XENIX will be alive and well for some time to come! MD -=- * The Official SCO Ported Software Compendium * Date Last Updated: August 22, 1990 The below list is a non-inclusive compendium of software which has been ported to the XENIX operating system. To use the CGI driver, you must have the CGIPATH and CGIDISP and/or CGIPRNT environmental variables declared. Poly reads ascii integer or floating point xy points. Using the SCO CGI devices, we have successfully used tek and poly with a VGA, EGA, and CG display, HP 7470a plotter, Laserjet, Deskjet, Epson printers, and a Postscript printer. To use the CGI drivers, make sure you have the CGIPATH and CGIDISP or CGIPRNT environmental variables declared. Tek and poly also recognize and work correctly with a Wyse wy99gt terminal.
