[rec.misc] Call for Discussion: rec.radio.misc

Call for Discussion: rec.radio.misc

this is by way of formalizing things ...

we now have the beginnings of a rec.radio.* hierarchy; we do not,
however, have a misc group. the absence of a misc group has a
number of negative effects:

everybody wants a niche group created even though traffic can't
be shown

inappropriate traffic bubbles up in the existing niche groups

potentially reasonable radio discussions are orphaned

i am proposing that rec.radio.misc be created, to provide a
home for various topics such as radio programming, radio
listening, etc. this group would give readers of rec.ham-radio.*
and rec.radio.shortwave a place to point at for inappropriate
articles, as well. in general, it seems a good way to vent off
unproven niche-radio group proposals: ``why not use rec.radio.misc
for a while and see if it flies''.

discussion will go on at least until after i finish counting votes
for soc.history; i'm not inclined to collect votes on two
proposals at once. discussion should go on ONLY in news.groups,
which is where followups to this article are directed.

cheers,
   richard
