We currently own a Silicon Graphics IRIS 2400 with 2MB of core. We wish to expand the memory in the IRIS as we are currently encountering some undesirable swapping in interactive programs. Silicon Graphics will be happy to sell us a 1 MB or 4 MB expansion, and will laugh all the way to the bank if we buy it from them. Our impression is that we might be able to buy 4 MB of third party memory for what SG is proposing to charge us for 1 MB (about $2500). Has anybody out there bought third party memory for an IRIS? If so, would you please e-mail comments about it: who you bought it from, does it work, are you happy with it, etc. Any comments/experiences/advice on this subject would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. -- Ian S. Small Dynamic Graphics Project Leonard B.
