References: We just got a new imagen and a version of TeX 1.5 (which is not the latest). This TeX uses amr fonts instead of the cmr fonts. The Imagen supplies fonts which they call cmr fonts. They supply the tfm's and bitmap images which are in the RST format. I first changed the plain.tex file to use the cmr fonts by simply substituting the names of the fonts, making a few guesses as I went. But then I discovered that the font positions are not the same. For example, all of the accents and ligitures are in different positions. The ligitures I am not concerned about since this is in the tfm file (as I recall). But the positions of the accents are basically hardwired into plain.tex. Just to prove to myself that it was possible, I played around and fixed up a number of them but clearly, this is a bad situation. I am looking for others that have solved this problem or simular ones and recogmendations as to how to do it. What and where should I change things? So I just give up and use the original TeX fonts and bit images? Is there some sort of "change file" for plain.tex? etc etc -- Perry Smith pedz@bobkat {ti-csl,infotel}!pollux!bobkat!pedz
