A couple of weeks ago a series of articles were posted on the problems people were having with Blackwatch tapes. I didn't think anything of it until a friend of mine who is a computer operator said he had been having trouble making system backups because of tape write errors. I said, "You aren't using 3M Blackwatch tapes, are you?" And he said, "How did you know?" His problem is to convince his superiors that the tapes are bad. I told him I would print out all the relevant articles from comp.misc to help him corroborate his story, only to find out that they had already expired on our system. So my question to the net is, is there someone who has archived these articles and would be willing to e-mail them to me? Or perhaps the original authors of the articles could e-mail a description of their problems with these tapes. My friend would be very grateful. Thanks. -- Bill McFadden Tektronix, Inc. P.O. If you mail a description of your problems with Blackwatch and various tapes why not cc a copy to me? I volunteered to collect reviews of tapes but so far have only 4 responses. I will post the results to the net. Something like this suggested format, perhaps. But send me your war stories. Manufacturer: Brand: Size: Density: Usage (daily backup, weekly, etc): Rating (out of 10): Comments: And mention if you want your name kept out of the sumamry. Thanks in advance.
