I own a Compaq DeskPro 386 and have found that the keyboard on my machine is having troubles when attemting to type the same character twice. It will often skip the second character. Question, any other owners of this machine having a similar problem? -- Steven Goodman Lake Systems UUCP: {ihnp4,uwvax}!uwmcsd1!lakesys!steven

It will often not keep up with the typist (not very fast one) even when in DOS (we're talking about a 12-MHz 80286 here). My feeling is that Compaq messed up on their keyboard debounce circuitry. At first I thought this was an isolated case, but maybe it's not...=)~wgk -- UUCP: {ihnp4,seismo,ucbvax,dcdwest}!sdcsvax!nosc!uhccux!yuan ARPA: uhccux!yuan@nosc.MIL INTERNET: yuan@UHCC.HAWAII.EDU AT&T: (808) 395-1732 "I'm an Amigoid, she's an Amigoid, they're Amigoids, - Yuan Chang - Wouldn't _y_o_u like to be an Amigoid too?"

This sounds like the same problem that the early Compaq had (back when there was only one Compaq). The debounce circitry is really screwed up, not to mention the rest of they keyboard (which is like typing on mashed potatoes). My only suggestion is to try and hook up a third-party keyboard. I've got directions on how to do it to the old Compaq's somewhere, if that could be any help. -- Scott Dorsey Kaptain_Kludge ICS Programming Lab (Where old terminals go to die), Rich 110, Georgia Institute of Technology, Box 36681, Atlanta, Georgia 30332 ...!{akgua,allegra,amd,hplabs,ihnp4,seismo,ut-ngp}!gatech!gitpyr!kludge
