I am in the process of putting together a Data Acquisition/Control System on the HP-IB/IEEE-488/GPIB Bus. I would like to use an IBM PC/Clone/Compatible Computer as a controller. My question is- I would like to minimize the amount of "Roll Your Own" Software I'll need to develop by purchasing a test Package. Currently I am familiar with 3 that seem to meet my requirements- Lotus Measure, Labtech Notebook/Acquire, and one by HP. My questions: 1) Are there any more available that are HP-IB/IEEE-488/GPIB Bus compatible, and 1-2-3 or RS/1 interfaceable ? 2) What are the merits/demerits of the ones I mentioned. I am especially interested in hearing from current users of any of these or any other packages on how easy to program, implement, etc. Also say what instruments you're using and the devices tested (if you can). If enough responses, I will post a summary. Please send all replies/flames to me directly, no sense in cluttering the net groups.
