A recent task where I'm currently working is to decide what sort of a computer system the local group should get. The situation is: We need to talk to: An IBM mainframe with SNA / Coax cable. A Tandem with something similar 6-15 80n86 boxes running Xenix My assumption on the Xenix boxes is that we'll be using the Excelan boards and ethernet. This works well on a Vax running Ultrix that I know of. Uses for the host system include being a library for source code and documentation, supporting SCCS/RCS, handling a bunch of database applications, and running some sort of integrated office automation package. My background is techie and engineering. This integrated office concept is a bit new to me. We want some sort of conferencing, and a mail utility better than the standard unix mail. My boss mentioned that he'd like to be able to send party mail and get a receipt of when people actually access the mail. I don't know of any package that does that! Anyhow, if people would like to tell me where to go, and who I should be talking to there, I'd appreciate it. Responses from sales types will be accepted, and even welcome! ** Send Followups via Mail, and I'll summarize when I've got a bunch ** Thanks to all. clif - ihnp4!chinet!clif -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------ My Opinions are my own. I can't imagine why anyone else would want them. Clif Flynt ihnp4!chinet!clif ------------------------------------------------------------------------
