This is a request for advice, mainly -- I hope -- from someone who has the same machine and has actual experience: I have the PS2/30. I'm not interested in increasing the graphics capability, but do like to run some memory resident things that don't like each other very much, and find these programs complaining of "insufficient memory." Then I have to use RESPRO to disable one or another before running the next. Will a memory expansion board signi- ficantly improve this situation, and what board would give me the biggest bang for the buck, and not cause new problems? For example, a review of the PS2/30 last year said that the Intel Above Board had disabled the clock -- something that would bother me very much. The literature about the PS2/30 used to mention that it can be expanded up to 8MB! Is that true, and what practical effect does it have, given that DOS has this 640K limit. I've never understood that, not being a tech person -- is there a lay-intelligible explanation? And, finally, related to the last question: An IBM support technicican hinted that boards would be coming along which would piggy-back the 386 capability onto the PS2/30, and thereby provide the possibility of true multi-tasking on that machine. Who knows anything more about that? If I bought an expansion board, I'd want to install something like Desqview to provide the nearest 8088 equivalent to multi-tasking. Any explanations, and most of all accounts of actual experience will be much appreciated. Tom Schlesinger Plymouth State College, NH decvax!unh!psc90!tos
