I have a couple questions/requests on the topic of Neural Network Computing:
1) Is there any newsgroup, mailing list or other electronic forum for the
discussion of Neural Network Computing?
2) I am organizing a session on Neural Networks to be held at the Regional
meeting of the American Association for the Advancement or Science in
Las Cruces, New Mexico, in the Spring of '89. I would like to get in
contact with anyone in the vicinity who might be interested in
attending or participating. I would also appreciate any pointers to
research groups at Universities in the area that are working in areas
relating to Neural Computing Networks.
(A word about the larger meeting, of which the Neural Net Session is a
part: The regional AAAS meeting usually draws a few hundred local
scientists from all disciplines. The sessions are small, friendly, and
informal. Abstracts are published, but not full papers. Awards are
given for best student presentations. The best thing about these
conferences, in my opinion, is that local teachers, researchers and
students can get exposure to and discuss many different disciplines
instead of just a narrow specialty. There are excellent opportunities
for cross-fertilization. It is fun. Also, it provides an excellent
opportunity for students to make presentations in a low-pressure
environment.)
For the session on Neural Networks therefore, we are seeking not so
much specialized research papers, but presentations that would be
meaningful to the "average scientist"; original research contribution
is not a criterion. If you are a student or researcher interested in
Neural Nets and who might be able to attend or participate in this
meeting, please contact me and tell me about your interest.
