INTRODUCTION

You're through with a project. You have a collection of files
that take up space on your hard disk. You don't need to keep them
around, but you don't want to just erase them. What can you do?
The simplest thing is to copy them to a floppy. When you're done,
put the floppy with the others you've been filling up with data
that's too important to throw away.

Six months later, you may ask, "Where are those files I made for
the XYZ Company project? I need to find the file that has my
computations in it, and the one with my final report. But I don't
remember the file names." You know what happens next -- you spend
the next 30 minutes loading Wordstar and Lotus and looking at
file after file to find the ones you want.

Now there's another way.

When you're through with files, use THE STOREHOUSE(tm) to
annotate them to a floppy. During the process, you can note the
exact purpose and content of the files. The purpose, file name,
(floppy) disk name, and file creation date are recorded in a log
file. Your data files are then copied to a floppy disk for
storage, and the source files are deleted from the hard disk.

When you want to find your files again, a view program allows you
to see the purpose, disk name, file name, and creation date of
files you have entered in the log. You can browse the contents of
the log or search on the information it contains.

In the case of the XYZ project files, when you annotate them make
sure that all files, whether word processor, spreadsheet, or data
files, have "XYZ Project" in the "purpose" for each file that is
entered in the log. Later, to locate the files, use the view
program to search for "XYZ Project".

You will find the files you need in seconds.
