[comp.misc] Info. request about the NEC PC

arman@oahu.cs.ucla.edu (09/05/88)

Dear netters,

I'm looking for ANY information, Japanese or English, regarding the
NEC PC (i.e. the NEC 9801.) For those of you who are wondering, this
is NOT an IBM compatible machine, eventhough it is based on the 80x86
chips and runs MS-DOS! It also accounts for most of the PC sales in
Japan and you're guranteed to get sued by NEC if you make a clone!

Thank you in advance,
I'll summarize if there is any response.

Well, the only thing that I remeber is that they were made too much RF
noise to be sold in the USA.

Tell us more about how come NEC will sue; what makes their box so
speical (their lawyers?)
