I have a PC Industries 2400 baud modem. Everything was going fine, until a few months ago. Everytime I would have the modem powered up, it would get extremely hot and power itself off (the red L.E.D.'s would get dim, and I'd lose carrier). If I leave it rest for about 10 minutes, it would come back to normal. It takes about 20-30 minutes for the thing to power down... I found out that the rectifier inside is the culpret for the heat. Also, a resistor was loose so I re-soldered it to the board. After that, it worked great-----until a few weeks ago. The same thing is happening. Any suggestions? Should I move the recifier OUTSIDE the modem? Could there be more things wrong (like a capacitor)? Any help is greatly appreciated... ------- +-------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Tony Marasco | UUCP: psuvax1!psucurt!psuvm!trm900 | | Penn State University | BITNET: trm900@psuvm | | Schuylkill Haven Highway | - or - | | Schuylkill Haven, PA 17976 | trm900%psuvm.psu.edu@CUNYVM.CUNY.EDU | | "Questions are a burden for others.
