After all of the BYTE-bashing that has occured on this net, a new rumor to feed the flames! I had the honor and pleasure of talking with Carl Helmers, a founder and the first editor of BYTE, The Small Systems Journal last week. He repeated to me a rumor floating about Petersborough that McG-H is about to sell BYTE... Anyone got a few million? I asked Helmers if he was interested in getting his old magazine back, and after an initial scoff of "who would want that magazine MOW" was more willing to admit that the large capital needed to buy out the expansive but failing magazine was a significant deterrent. He did admit, however, that he was anxious to start a new magazine.
