I recently took my Zenith flat-screen color monitor in for some service ( the characters on the left side of the screen had blue shadows ). The serviceman reported that Zenith has recalled certain serial-numbered monitors, with brand-new monitors replacing those recalled. I had a recallable monitor (purchased in Feb. 1988). Since the ComputerLand where I bought the monitor wasn't an authorized Zenith repair place, I had to take it somewhere else, and they told me that it was being recalled but that I had to take it to the place from which it was purchased. No one at ComputerLand heard of this recall, so they called Zenith. Zenith gave them a return number. But ComputerLand has to handle all of this through their corporate headquarters, so that's another number. But it finally got shipped off, so now I'm waiting for Zenith to send them a replacement monitor. I don't know why the recall or what serial numbers it applies to, but if you have been having any trouble, call up the place from whence it came ( and make them call Zenith if they've never heard of the recall, because Zenith isn't "volunteering" the recall notice).
