Speaking of media bashing, is anyone else out there getting sick of Computer Language magazine? It started out OK, but wouldn't you expect a special multitasking issue of a magazine about computing languages to at least pay some attention to concurrent languages. Concurent Euclid or Concurrent Pascal would be great, Forth would be good, but even ADA would have meant something... Instead we get: "Stocking the Windows Armory" Programming for Microsoft Windows in C. "A multitasking kernel for C programmers" I had hopes for this, but it's specific to Microsoft C on the IBM-PC. "Co-operative tasking in Modula 2" Probably the only article in the issue that has anything to do with Computer Languages, per se. Modula coroutines are a nice feature. Wish there was a portable way to do the same in 'C'. Still, they've covered this ground before, and it does concentrate on a particular MS-DOS based compiler. "Constructing the Virtual Mouse" Another IBM-PC specific article. How to emulate the Microsoft mouse with the keyboard. Plus a bunch of product reviews. Conclusion: Computer Language is now just another IBM-PC rag, albeit a bit specialised. Another one bytes the dust. -- Peter da Silva `-_-' peter@sugar.uu.net Have you hugged U your wolf today?
