I found this processor in the innards of one of those scrolling LED sign boards and haven't been able to find any information about it. Someone here mentioned that it was just a Z80-type specialized for controller applications. Does anyone have any info, or better yet, a disassembler for it? Please MAIL repsonses to me (or CC them if you're posting), since I usually skim this bboard and may miss that crucial reply. Thanks! Marc Pawliger mp1w@andrew.cmu.edu mp1w%andrew@cmccvb.bitnet

--------------------- It is a Zilog Z8, a single chip microprocessor. They come in various types, with and without on-board rom, etc. This is (if I am correct) a Z8 with on-board Basic interpreter. Its machine-code is NOT compatible with the Z80. --------------------- -- { - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - disclaimer : I usually lie. } Dik Groot, Delft University of Technology, Rekencentrum, DUneT. The Z8681 is a ROMless Z8 chip. The Z8671 has the on-board Basic interpreter. If the original requestor wants a photocopy of the Z8681 data sheets, please e-mail me a USPS (US Mail) address. -- Matthew Lee Stier (919) 469-8300| Sun Microsystems --- RTP, NC 27560| "Wisconsin Escapee" uucp: {sun, rti}!sunpix!matthew |
