I'm looking for information/advice/recommendations on a text/OCR scanner for use with a PC compatible system in an mid-sized (~50 employees) engineering consulting company. I have found the following products are available locally: Princeton LS-300 Canon IX-12 Dest PC Scan 2000 I've also checked out the rather expensive Kurzweil Discover 7320, which I understand is the cheapest scanner that handles typeset or even propor- tionally spaced text and recogizes virtually any font. Is it's performance really that much better to justify the cost? While graphics scanning might be of some use, the main interest is in text. Thanks for any info. ...JW -- John Wright ///////////////// Phone: 902-424-3805 or 902-424-6527 Post: c/o Dr Pat Lane, Biology Dept, Dalhousie U, Halifax N.S., CANADA B3H-4H8 Cdn/Bitnet: lane@cs.dal.cdn Arpa: lane%dalcs.uucp@uunet.uu.net Uucp: lane@dalcs.uucp or {uunet, watmath, utai, garfield}!dalcs!lane
