I am in need of controlling a motor (actually a few motors) with an IBM PC. Actually, any computer will do, but I am going to use an IBM as a test bed. I was thinking of using the RS-232 serial port to drive a relay to control the motor. What I need to know is: Can I control one relay for each pin of the DB-25? Is there any way to access each pin and send voltage out? At the same time(or will I have to do one for a bit, then the next, etc, in a loop to simulate it)? How do I control the serial port this completely? How much voltage is sent down each pin, and is it standard in every computer? Also, would it be better to use the serial or paralell ports to do this? Thanks to any and all answer, Robert C. Johnson ..!texsun!killer!rcj rcj@killer.dallas.tx.usa ^don't trust me on this one...
