I received some information today describing a program to automate backups, called CTAR. It claims to be compatible with tar, provide 3 levels of data compression, runnable via command line or menu system, and a host of other capabilities. It can also read past damaged portions of an archive and restore what's left of valid data. It also has the ability to archive and restore pipes, symbolic links, and both device and character files. A compatible version is available for MSDOS also. The manufacturer's name is Med-flex. Anybody heard of this product before? Roger rac@sherpa uunet!sherpa!rac
