I appologize ahead of time if this posting is misplaced but there are no newsgroups associated with this system. Besides I figured this was the place to get the information I need. I have a friend who has a Seiko Model #8610 8086 based computer but it is not a ms(pc)-dos machine. It is a multiuser machine running under MBOS (now you see why the appology for posting here). The problem is that the machine is very important to him because it runs some irreplaceable software and the hard disk is dieing (ie. starting to get many read errors). He (my friend) has tried to get a replacement disk from Seiko but all the Stateside suppliers have long since quit supporting the machine. He has purchased a seagate ST225 hard drive to use as a replacement but so far has not had any luck with making it run with the Seiko. The disk documentation says a low level format needs to be done on the disk but alas there is no technical documentation with the Seiko so we don't know how to do the format. Does anybody out there have any experience with this machine ? We are trying a low level format with his AT to see if the 225 will then work with the Seiko. I don't have a lot of confidence that this will work however. If anybody could help us either with technical information on the Seiko or help us in locating technical support for it we would be very appreciative. Thanks in advance.
