ok, I'm stuck. I was trying to figure out some way to write a script or awk program that would allow me to catalog my music collection and maybe perform some sort of database functions. for example, give it a song title and have it tell me the artist, disc, track, time, etc. (or supply the artist and return discs, or supply the disc and get the artist and songs... you get the idea). I only have limited familiarity with awk and C-shell scripts, but can muddle through them given time. trying to write it in C would be even harder. anyway, I got stuck trying to come up with a suitable record format (pun intended :-) that I could make awk or grep (or whatever) grok consistently. can anyone offer me any suggestions, or better yet a working program, csh, or awk example? if there is enough interest, I'll post a working solution to the net. mahalo, baron -- INTERNET: baron@uhccux.uhcc.hawaii.edu \ BITNET: baron@uhccux.bitnet > "Make beans into peas!"
