Well, I don't have an answer for you, but I've always made it
apolicy to pass tapes & disks across the table rather than go thru
the x-ray machine.

I've never been forced to send my Compaq lunchbox 286 or Zenith
laptop thru the x-ray either, but I'v always been required to power
them up.  These days the security policies may be much more strict
(I've read that there may be a ban for a while) but I'll be glad to
let them open up my machine as long as they agree to be responsible
for any damage.  But that's another story!
