[] Does anyone know anything about UN*X on a Prime? We're investigating the possibility of running such a beast here since we already have some Primes running other OS's. I believe I saw something in this group a few months ago, but unfortunately I didn't save it. In fact I don't really know if it even exists yet. If you have any info, please mail to me. Naturally if there's enough response, I'll summarize to the net. Thanks, David Grossman ..!ihnp4!we53!busch!dpg Anheuser-Busch Companies 314/577-3125 One Busch Place, Bldg. 202-4 St. Louis, MO 63118

You should pick up a copy of Computerworld magazine dated September 26, 1984,
volume 18, number 39b. The entire issue is devoted to UNIX. One of the main
articles deals with which hardware vendors support UNIX. PRIME presently is not one of them. Try perusing the issue. The article above begins on page 10.

With Gerald O'nions (now go@ist.uucp) my third year undergraduate project was to port v7 unix onto a Prime P750. It needed about 3-4 months more before I feel happy letting users on it, well moderately happy :-). It was done from scratch, no C compiler was available and we had little info on the hardware. We'd probably have finished it if we could have had machine time during working hours but the users wouldn't let us. -- UKUUCP SUPPORT Lee McLoughlin <UK>!ukc!lmcl kcl-cs!lee "What you once thought was only a nightmare is now a reality!"
