For FREE: One ASR-33 Teletypewriter -- Complete with aprox 8 rolls of yellow paper and aprox 8 rolls of paper tape. This unit is your good ole antique teletype machine complete with paper tape reader/puncher unit. The mechanics of the unit are in good condition, the wheels on the stand are kind of clunky though (could use rewelding in places). For those new to computers -- the Teletype model ASR-33 operates at 110 baud, 20ma Current loop (can be converted to RS232 via a simple circuit), prints upper case only, and has a unique keyboard encoding/character decoding section which is almost entirely mechanical. The encoding scheme is ASCII, and will support the first 64 printable ASCII characters (the upper 32 are mapped to the upper case characters), carriage return, line feed, and bell (it really goes DING). This unit and all accessories are being offered for FREE to anyone who comes to take it away. It will be thrown in the _trash_ on June 3, 1989. If anyone from the Boston Computer Museum wants it -- here's your chance to grab (another) one for nuthin' 'cept the cost to get it from here to there! I posted this to the usa distribution so that those crazy enough to travel (or pay motor freight) to Long Island, NY from California will see it. Some people actually need this thing! Any interested parties may contact me at (516) 746-2350 (day), (516) 968-6860 (eves till 5/26) or (516) 794-6501 (eves after 5/26), or via e-mail of course. ------ | Gil Kloepfer, Jr. | ICUS Software Systems/Bowne Management Systems (depending on where I am) | {icus, lilink}!limbic!gil or gil@icus.islp.ny.us
