This Posting is a general request for information on:
SCT (Systems & Computer Technology Corp)
BANNER
Oracle/Ingres
and how they apply, well or otherwise, to the problems of
data processing for University Administrative use.
Background. The University of Sussex, in common with a
reasonable number of other UK Universities is looking at
major changes to its administrative data processing. We
have seen presentations of the BANNER product and have been
impressed with what we've seen. What we have have not been
able to do yet is to study the product in depth, nor to
speak with existing users.
So, if you have first hand experience of BANNER, or could
point us to someone who has, then we'd be *very* grateful
if you could contact the undersigned.
Our studies are not restricted to BANNER. Really what we
are after is a packaged solution (or set of solutions) that
deal with a university's administrative problems and are
based in (on?) a machine independent relational database
product such as Ingres or Oracle, and which make extensive
use of standard SQL. Again, if you have first hand
experience, or could point us to someone who has, then we
really would be *very* grateful if you could contact the
undersigned.
