We are currently in the process of evaluating possible alternatives for our News Archival System in the future. In particular, the PICK database/operating system as implemented by IOS Inc. on C.ITOH hardware is under consideration. In the past, we have used PICK on a Honeywell with support from Ultimate. This configuration is now obsolete. The following items/issues are of interest to us: * Opinions/Comments/Experience/Recommendations on PICK related products and on PICK itself * ...on IOS * ...on C.ITOH (CIE Systems) * ...on Ultimate * How "open" a system is it for the future? ...possibilities for growth? * Connectivity with DEC VAXes (Ultrix, VMS), Suns, and other UNIX machines via Ethernet, tcp-ip, etc. If you or anyone you know is familiar with these issues, ***PLEASE*** send me e-mail or call me. I'd be very interested in their experience(s) and opinion(s) with regard to this matter. We appreciate any info/help. Rex -- M.
