I would suggest a more tactful approach to checking up on your programmers. As a programmer myself I can tell you how many lines of code I write means nothing. Thats like working by the hour or by salary. I can stretch out a program as long as I want in an effort to make it better or "more portable". Or if I need to I can` do a quick job of it, still of course maintaining good quality. My supervisor learned long ago to keep heaping on the jobs. When I have too much I start missing deadlines. Then he backs off. If you keep too close track of us genius's we have ways of getting even. You can't rush quality and inovation SO DON'T TRY. Just give us the work and get off our backs!
