The Problem:
My sister and her husband have a Wang Professional Computer (kind
of a Wang PC with built-in Wang word processor) with a lot of
documents in Wang format. Now, she uses WordPerfect on a regular
PC or PS/2, and would like a way to convert the Wang-format
documents to WordPerfect.
The Question:
Does anybody know of utility programs or service bureaus that do
such conversions? Ideally, it would be a means of translating the
Wang document to the equivalent WordPerfect document (with the
equivalent formatting controls intact). Is this a pipe dream?
Does anybody know is such a service is available? If so, where
and what cost?
After reading the Wang doc, it appears that they have a utility
which exports the raw text out of a document into a regular MS-DOS
2.01 (!) format. I guess that we can fall back on this if nothing
else is available... There is a considerable volume of documents
affected, including my brother-in-law's thesis and related work.
Please use email to the below address, as I do not normally follow
these newsgroups. I will post a followup if there is interest.
In case it's relevant, here are the details on the Wang:
Wang Profssional Computer 2.40
BIOS 1.21
MS-DOS 2.01
Main System Menu Release 1.22
Wang Word Processing Version 2
Thanks in advance.
