I would appreciate hearing frompeople involved in wholesaling PC components as to whether the pricing structure of the new military Desktop III contract is actually within the realm of the possible. A fairly full listing of these prices was in the Jan 27 issue of either Government Computer News or Fed. Computer Week, I forget exactly which, but I was seeing things like a 20 MH 386 base system with 4 MB ram and cache for $800, 1280x1024 color monitor for $445, basic VGA monitor for $195, etc. etc. It doesn't sound completely like they're just dumping outmoded stuff. Has Unisys gone the way of the Japanese, market share ueber alles? Have their present woes left them with no other path to follow? And, if these prices should hold up, what will they do to prices out in the market in general, and how soon? Ted Holden HTE
