Once in a while someone posts a message to several groups with any follow-ups directed to only one group. How is this done ??? Thank You. Chris Behrens ChrisB@Hubcap.Clemson.Edu

When you do a followup ('f' or 'F') rn creates a header for you. It copies the Subject and Newsgroups lines and fills in or adds to others. When your editor brings up the message for you to edit, you can modify these headings. For example, rn breaks when the References line gets too long so it is a good idea to look at this line and cut out any references other than the last three to five. You can change the distribution line if your response really applies to a more local group. And if you feel that the discussion really belongs in a different newsgroup then you can name that group in the followup-To line. BTW I have done just that in this posting. I think this really belongs in news.newusers.questions so I added a followup line to that group. I have also changed the newsgroups line to include that group. That way people who read the original posting in comp.misc get to see where the followup will go to and people reading news.newusers.questions will see what the original question was. Note that those who read both groups will only see the posting once. -- D'Arcy J.M. Cain (darcy@druid) | Thank goodness we don't get all D'Arcy Cain Consulting | the government we pay for.
