I need information sufficient to write a SCSI device driver for DOS. Can somebody aim me toward a description of the SCSI interface or, better yet, a DOS SCSI device driver. My situation is that I have inherited a box containing 2 30Mb CDC WREN hard disks and a SCSI interface card to run them. I would like to make use of them from DOS (the box is functioning as a door stop at present!). Please E-mail any information you may have on SCSI in general or SCSI device drivers in particular. Hi, I would like to know what SCSI is all about. Why it is so popular today? What makes it unique when compared to other bus standards like VME eventhough it achieves a throughput of only 5MB/sec? Advantages and Disadvantages when compared to other bus stands..and so on.. Any references would also be helpful.. Vijay (vijay.bur@nixdorf.com.uunet)

Someone asked on the net what makes the SCSI bus so popular, given the modest 5MB/s thruput. I propose that it is the only bus to which you can connect using a cable and a flip of a switch, accessible without disassembling the 'device'. It therefore has tremendous marketing advantage, and it will be around at least as long as the IBM PC architecture. -- przemek klosowski (przemek@ndcva.cc.nd.edu) Physics Dept University of Notre Dame IN 46556
