What about LCD laptops? I seem to remember that for even 386(SX) class laptops, the power suply is usually capable of only 60 watts or so, yet it powers a hard disc, 80MB or larger. Does this mean the laptops are less (functionaly) powerful (e.g., slower) than their desktop equivalents (which typically suply 150 or 200 watts)? Some laptops also accept docking stations which hold yet a couple of AT class cards. 60 watts sounds pretty shaky to me. For one thing one may never expect to insert a hardcard hard drive in one of these slots. About the display, I'm sure that leaving it on will hurt the LCD more than not. dve@mace.cc.purdue.edu
