that presented work done at MIT (I think) about little motorized cars that could be made to exhibit "complex" behaviors by connecting the various motors which drive the wheels of the vehicle to photosensors. Behaviors included cars that "liked light" and "feared light". Sorry, but I can't describe the article more clearly (that's why I need to find it again). I thought I had seen it in a past issue of Scientific American, but upon looking through my back issues I couldn't find it.
