Would someone please describe the meaning of the lights on my external modem? The manual doesn't say anything about them. They are labelled as: HS, AA, CD, OH, RD, SE, TR, MR It is a Cardinal 2400 external modem. The reason I ask is that a few minutes ago I was logged into the school computer via MSDOS Kermit at 1200 baud and typing a letter in emacs when something froze. The SD light would still flash with every keystroke, but nothing was being echoed. I couldn't even break out of the system. Also, the MR light was flashing at about 1 Hz. The only other lights that were on were CD and TR. So it looked like the following: HS AA CD OH RD SE TR MR 0 0 0 1 0 X 1 F where 0=off, 1=on, X=on with keystroke, F=flashing at about 1 Hz This has happened once before for unknown reasons. The only way to break out was to tell Kermit to hangup. Thanks in advance. -- Sanjay Keshava Student in the UT Austin Graduate School of Business ->|<- Class of July 1991, Information Systems & Finance ...
