I too have had a bad experience with these bozos. I had (_had_) a partially bad Seagate 4144R hard disk (122 megs, RLL) - head#5 was flaky. I saw their ads in Computer Shopper, and gave them a call. I sent them the drive and charged it to my Visa, they were to completely repair the drive for me. They sent the drive back, but the drive had not been repaired at all. They refused to refund my money, but agreed to take another look at it. I sent the drive back, and it came back completely dead. The drive spun, but did nothing else at all (no format, no read, no write, on any track or head). JB Tech claimed that the drive was 'unrepairable', but did not refund my money. This was 8 weeks after I had sent in the drive. After two weeks of complaining and bitching at them, they agreed to credit my Visa card for all but the checkout fee. After another week or two, the credit had not been given. I went through about 3 or 4 bozos at JB Tech before I got my credit, and only because I kept all my paperwork/receipts. Now I'm out about $50 - $100 in UPS fees and the checkout fee, and am now the proud owner of a large paperweight. This drive costs over $600 new, and is now useless. I would _love_ to hear of other sad stories concerning JB Tech, especially if you would send in complaints also. Lets expose these idiots for what they are. I also recommend: > STAY AWAY FROM JB TECHNOLOGIES, INC. > > DO !!_NOT_!! BUY ANYTHING FROM THEM !!!! And NEVER, NEVER, EVER let them fix your drives. -- Simon Gales@The University of Kentucky simon@ms.uky.edu simon@UKMA.BITNET {rutgers, uunet}!ukma!simon
