Hi everyone. I have a question that I'd like some guidance on from you the users of the net and readers of comp.misc. I am doing some research on risk assessment in Finance Theory. I have some data that indicates that computer users assess risk differently than the general public. This is based on a very limited inspection of information so it may be way off. However, the question I want some feedback about is: Is it within the general guidelines of net protocol for me to request volunteers to complete my survey? The survey is not strictly about computing but computer users are an interesting target research group. If you think that this is a permitted activity then send me a response with AGREE in the subject. If you think that this is NOT a permitted use of the net the send me a message with DISAGREE in the subject. As always, I'll tally the responses and summarize. Thanks for listening. Hi everyone, A few weeks ago I posted a short note requesting people to let me know if they had opinions about my using the network (especially this group) to conduct some research I am doing. I wanted to ask for volunteers from the net. I have received only six replies. All said that they agreed that this was not a violation of NET PROTOCOL. This is a very small sample but as its all I have I will be taking the opportunity to make a request for volunteers in the near future -- as sooon as I can get our CS people to permit the bandwidth that may result. Thanks for all your time. Kevin -- Kevin "auric" Crocker Athabasca University UUCP: ...!{alberta,ncc}!atha!kevinc Inet: kevinc@cs.AthabascaU.CA
