I removed the posting in appendix A for two reasons: 1) The writing was poor in comparison with the other appendices and the rest of the File, creating an obvious weak spot. I thought I could write a condensation of better, punchier quality. 2) We have pagecount troubles. I'm under heavy pressure to keep the book under 350pp, which means some stuff has got to go or be slimmed down. Rather than trim the lexicon (the heart of the document) I went hunting for possible space savings in the appendices. I found one, and may have to make other cuts. It's called `editorial judgement'. One thing's for sure: The jargon file that has to cut entries on publisher's orders is not the True Jargon File.
