Reagan proved that anything is possible in a democracy.
If America had remained british back in the 1780's,
none of this would ever have happened.

Perhaps you should rephrase that -
Anything is possible in a democracy dominated by Television!

Or, do you actaully mean:

Anything is possible in a society that *chooses* to be dominated by TV.

The good news is that by then we will have passed through 12/12/12 (among
others) and that we will really survive the year 2000 disaster!

Hello from the year 2013!! My name is Prof. Duncan Potter, Department
of Computing Science and Artificial Intelligence, Edinburgh University
in Scotland.

This message is being posted via an experimental time-machine which is
being built for use with our world-wide distributed operating system
called Pasghetti 4.1.5A (Pasghetti because it uses a PASCAL-like programming
language and "spaghetti" because its links span the world like a bowl of
spaghetti).

In a few days, I'll attempt to transmit some technical information relating
to the theory on which this "inter-temporal posting mechanism" works.
Perhaps you can build this device and communicate with us.

This post is either going to make it to 1985, 1988 or 1991. Am I correct.
(Don't answer - I won't be able to hear the response).

Yes, yes. We've all read TimeScape by Gregory Benford.
Nothing new there.

Also read Thrice Upon a Time, by James Hogan -- and closer to the point.
