[sci.space.shuttle] Astronaut resignations

lubkin@apollo.uucp (David Lubkin) (02/03/88)

On the Challenger anniversary, one of the network news programs reported
that 15 astronauts had resigned since the explosion. This was bound to
happen, but obviously NASA has been quiet about it. The only resignations
I've seen mentioned are those of Sally Ride (got divorced and went to the
Hoover Institute at Stanford) and John Fabian (now in a senior position at
ANSER, an Air Force think tank).

Does anyone know who the other 13 resignees are, and where they've gone?
(To Henry Spencer: who carries that kind of news regularly?)

Reply to me; I'll summarize to the net.

Sorry about posting this but e-mail rejected it.

I seem to remeber a Denver TV station mentioning that Kathy
Sullivan had left NASA and was in a surgical rehabilitation program
at Denver General Hospital. She is learning how to become a doctor again.
I believe that she was a General Surgeon before she joined NASA as
a Mission Specialist.

Can't be, Kathy Sullivan is a Geologist by training. Rhea Seddon (sp?)
is an MD, so maybe they meant her.
