Eventually I will get this automated. I retrieve the updates from an internal Telemail system. Normally this is automatic, but right now I have to hand filter the messages, so there may be a small delay on sending them out. -Peter =========================================================================== KSC SPACE SHUTTLE PROCESSING REPORT FOR - Thursday, June 30, 1988 STS-26 - DISCOVERY (OV 103) - VAB The Shuttle Interface Test is continuing today to verify electrical and mechanical connections between the orbiter Discovery, external tank, solid rocket boosters (SRB) and mobile launcher platform. Today a hydraulics test of SRB flight controls is scheduled to begin. The crawler transporter was moved into place in front of VAB high bay 3 in preparation for moving the Space Shuttle vehicle to the pad. It will be positioned under the launch platform in preparation for the pad transfer. Today and tomorrow workers are preparing Launch Pad 39-B for the roll out. The Rotating Service Structure will be cycled today, and tomorrow the flame trench is scheduled to be washed down. In addition, a "walkdown" is planned to visually inspect the different levels at the pad to ensure its readiness to accept the Space Shuttle vehicle. It will take about 6-7 hours to transfer Discovery 4.2 miles from the VAB to Launch Pad 39-B. The actual time of rollout to the launch pad is being assessed as the SIT test progresses. The rollout could occur as early as Sunday morning. STS-27 - ATLANTIS (0V 104) - OPF BAY 2 An oxidizer tank for the power reactant storage and distribution system was installed last night and the hydrogen tank is scheduled for installation today. Preparations are underway to install the orbiter's galley. Operations continuing include: communications testing, orbiter modifications and thermal protection system activities. STS-28 - COLUMBIA (OV 102) - OMRF The "roll around" tires were installed yesterday as preparations to transfer Columbia to OPF bay 1 continue. Workers are performing routine maintenance of support equipment in OPF bay 1 to support modifications and processing of Columbia. The transfer is currently planned for Tuesday, July 5. STS-27 SOLID ROCKET BOOSTERS - RPSF Processing activities are underway to prepare the segments for stacking in the VAB next month. Next week, the left aft skirt is scheduled to arrive and aft booster "buildup" operations will begin. Buildup activities, which includes mating the skirt and aft booster, take about 22 days after which the aft segment will be ready for stacking on the mobile launcher platform. # # # # # For more imformation on KSC's Shuttle processing status call Lisa Malone at (407) 867-2468.
