            KSC SPACE SHUTTLE PROCESSING REPORT FOR - Wed. July 20, 1988

                     STS-26  -  DISCOVERY (OV 103)  -  PAD 39-B

               Preparations are active for next week's Wet Countdown
          Demonstration Test (WCDDT) and Flight Readiness Firing (FRF).
          Technicians are closing out the aft compartment today and a
          frequency response test of Discovery's main engines is scheduled
          to be conducted later today.

               A simulation of the FRF is scheduled to be conducted from
          Firing Room 1 on Friday to give the launch team practice and
          verify software. The "wet" tanking test is scheduled to begin
          with the call-to-stations at 11:30 p.m. Friday, July 22 and will
          culminate at 7 a.m. Monday, July 25. A few hours after the WCCDT
          T-0, the countdown clock will be reset for the FRF which is
          scheduled to culmintate with a 22-second test firing of
          Discovery's main engines at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, July 28.

                     STS-27  -  ATLANTIS (0V 104)  -  OPF BAY 2

               Workers are making preparations to install the forward
          reaction control system in Atlantis on Saturday. The FRCS is
          scheduled to arrive from the Hypergolic Maintenance Facility
          tomorrow. Systems testing of the power reactant storage and
          distribution system is underway this week. Two of the four closed
          circuit television cameras have been installed and operations to
          install the other cameras are underway. Preparations for checking
          out the water spray boilers are active with the check out
          scheduled to begin tomorrow.

                     STS-28  -  COLUMBIA (OV 102)  -  OPF BAY 1

               Orbiter modifications scheduled today include crew escape,
          RTV heat sink and 17-inch external tank disconnect. Preparations
          are underway to remove the nose cap this week to allow access for
          structural inspections. Tiles being removed from the left side of
          the vertical stabilizer will be replaced with thermal blanket
          material.

                        STS-27 SOLID ROCKET BOOSTERS  -  RPSF

               The left and right aft boosters are being "built up" in the
          RPSF in preparation for stacking in the Vehicle Assembly
          Building. Today, development flight instrumentation will be
          routed and preparations for foaming the external tank attach ring
          are scheduled today.  Stacking operations are scheduled to begin
          the end of the month in high bay 3 of the VAB on mobile launcher
          platform 1.
