KSC SPACE SHUTTLE PROCESSING REPORT FOR - Thurs. July 21, l988

                       STS-26 - DISCOVERY (OV 103) - Pad 39-B

Preparations are continuing today to support the upcoming
Flight Readiness Firing (FRF) simulation this weekend, the Wet
Countdown Demonstration Test (WCDDT), and the FRF. Overnight,
engineers and technicians completed work on a data bus connector.
A checkout of the Space Shuttle Main Engine (SSME) cutoff cables
was completed, as was an aft skirt purge. Other completed work
          includes the SSME sensor calibrations.

Engineers, managers, and technicians continue to explore
various options for repair of a vent line leak in the left-hand
OMS pod reaction control system. Using a "think tank" approach,
engineers have come up with several options that will require
furthur study and analysis. Repair of the leak, which has been
stabilized, is not required for FRF.

                       STS-27 - ATLANTIS (OV 104) - OPF Bay 2

A potable water system check was successfully performed.
KU-band testing was completed Wednesday. Hydraulics work and
systems testing of the power reactant storage and distribution
system is underway this week. A brief period of power-on testing
was concluded. Workers also completed an auxiliary power unit
leak function check in conjunction with the LPS.

                       STS-28 - COLUMBIA (OV 102) - OPF Bay 1

Work continues on removing the nose cap to allow access for
structural inspections. Preparations, including the final weight
assessment, are underway to allow door opening by this weekend.
Other work items include the removal of tiles from the left side
of the verticle stabilizer to allow replacement with thermal
          blankets.

STS-27 SOLID ROCKET BOOSTERS - RPSF

Work continues on the left and right aft boosters in
preparations for next month's scheduled stacking operations in
the VAB. Operations to install girth gages are proceeding.
