KSC SPACE SHUTTLE PROCESSING REPORT FOR - Fri. Aug. 26, 1988
STS-26 - DISCOVERY (OV 103) - PAD 39-B
Yesterday, adverse weather conditions held up the hydrazine
loading operation. Overnight, workers topped off the hydraulic
power units on the solid rocket boosters. Currently, workers are
loading hydrazine into the orbiter's auxiliary power units.
Installing ordnance devices for the Interial Upper Stage is
now scheduled for tomorrow as a result of the delay in hydrazine
servicing. As soon as the ordnance devices are installed, the
payload bay doors are scheduled to be opened. Work will begin to
prepare for the installation of the Tracking and Data Relay
Satellite (TDRS).
TDRS installation remains targeted for Monday. Next week,
payload to orbiter connections are scheduled, followed by checkout
of the interfaces.
STS-27 - ATLANTIS (0V 104) - OPF BAY 2
Workers in the OPF are preparing for the arrival of the left
and right orbital maneuvering system pods next week. The two pods
are scheduled to be installed next week along with the number 2
main engine. Orbiter systems checkout and thermal protection
system operations are scheduled.
STS-28 - COLUMBIA (OV 102) - OPF BAY 1
Orbiter return-to-flight modifications and structural
inspections are continuing along with thermal protection system
operations.
STS-27 SOLID ROCKET BOOSTERS - VAB/RPSF
The right forward center segment is hanging over the right
stack while being prepared for mating on Sunday. The right
forward segment, the last of four, is undergoing inspections
prior to moving it to the VAB transfer aisle Sunday.
Meanwhile, closeouts of the field joints on the left booster
are active. The forward assemblies are scheduled to be installed
next month.
