KSC SPACE SHUTTLE PROCESSING REPORT FOR - Wed. Aug. 31, 1988
STS-26 - DISCOVERY (OV 103) - PAD 39-B
Workers at the pad are busy connecting the Tracking and Data
Relay Satellite/Inertial Upper Stage to the shuttle. Friday, an
interface verification test of those connections is planned.
Post-FRF main engine and main propulsion system checks are
continuing. Today leak checks of the main engine heat exchangers
is continuing.
Inspections and repairs of orbiter and external tank thermal
protection systems are underway.
STS-27 - ATLANTIS (0V 104) - OPF BAY 2
The left orbital maneuvering system pod is scheduled to be
installed tomorrow and the right pod is scheduled for
installation on Friday. The third engine is scheduled for
installation next week. Systems checkout and thermal protection
system operations are continuing.
STS-28 - COLUMBIA (OV 102) - OPF BAY 1
Vehicle structural inspections and return-to-flight
modifications are continuing. Installation of black electronic
boxes and various orbiter components is continuing.
STS-27 SOLID ROCKET BOOSTERS - VAB
The lifting beam has been attached to the right forward
segment and is being inspected. This is the last segment for the
STS-27 stack and it is scheduled to be lifted to the high bay
late tonight. Joint closeouts are active on all the field joints
on the left booster. The forward assemblies/nose cones are set to
be mated next month.
