Statement from Royce Mitchell, SRM Project Manager
"I was able to examine both SRB's early this afternoon (Sept 30)
at Port Canaveral and Cape Canaveral AFS. There is absolutely no
sign of any leakage or unusual heating at any of the joints. All
three field joints and the case-to-nozzle joints on both boosters
look very, very good. The field joint protection system around
each joint is still in place and looks just like new. The
interior of the aft skirts at the case-to-nozzle joints are
unscorched and look completely normal. We're looking forward to
getting the joints apart so we can see how well the new design
performed in flight."
