So they could be considered ilegal aliens :-) I recall that eventually there was an update essay, either published in Analog or in the paperback version of the book (I don't remember) which said that the book caused quite a stir at NASA and that most of the events in it could no longer happen today (i.e., the astronauts now carry passports). -- "Destroy the universe?
