KSC SPACE SHUTTLE PROCESSING REPORT - THURSDAY, NOV. 3, 1988 STS-27 - ATLANTIS (0V 104) - PAD 39-B Atlantis was powered up around midnight last night. Today, launch pad validations are scheduled to be completed and access to the orbiter's aft compartment is expected. Preparations are underway to load hypergolic propellants aboard the orbiter this weekend. During this operation, hypergolic propellants will be loaded into the forward and aft reaction control systems and into the tanks for left and right orbital maneuvering system engines. In addition, hydrazine will be loaded for the orbiter's three auxiliary power units and for the solid rocket boosters' thrust vector control system. This loading operation is hazardous and the pad will be cleared of all non-essential personnel this weekend. STS-29 - DISCOVERY (OV 103) - OPF BAY 1 Systems testing is ongoing as turnaround activities are continuing for the STS-29 launch. Included in those tests are checks of the Ku-band antenna, the power reaction storage and distribution system and the orbiter's communications systems. Thermal protection system operations are continuing. STS-28 - COLUMBIA (OV 102) - OMRF Columbia is being readied for the scheduled move to OPF bay 2 next week, where it will stay for about a month. Better access to various areas of the orbiter is provided in the OPF and power up testing can be accomplished. Columbia will be rolled back to the OMRF when Atlantis returns from its upcoming mission. STS-29 SOLID ROCKET BOOSTERS - VAB/RPSF Yesterday, the left aft center segment was hoisted over the sill to high bay 1 where inspections of the tang are underway. Workers are also inspecting the clevis of the left aft booster in preparation for the mate. Meanwhile the other segments are being prepared for stacking in the RPSF.
